A local animal rescue is helping animals displaced by Hurricane Harvey in Houston.

Dozens of volunteers from Louie's Legacy are lessening the burden on Houston areas shelters by making the trip to Houston and rescuing shelter animals to make room for the all the displaced animals waiting to be reunited with their families

"I think for whatever reason... hotels can't take the dogs, there wasn't enough room on boats and so these poor animals who don't really have a voice," said organizer Melissa Chapman. "They're dependent on us. We are only taking dogs that were previously sitting in the shelters waiting for adoptions before the storm hit."
