DURHAM - The 21st annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is raising big money and bringing in big numbers.

The 2017 race has already raised over $800,000 and had more than 8,000 people running the 5k in Research Triangle Park.

Exactly 75 percent of the money raised in central and eastern North Carolina stays right here in the 29 counties it served.

The other 25 percent goes toward grants.

“I think it's great-- to be there for the survivors and for those who didn't survivors,” said Tim Manyatis.

It's not too late to donate to the Komen cause. The final donation tally for 2017 will not end until mid-June.
