Beginning at the end of the business day Friday, Rochester-area First Niagara Bank branches will close. They'll reopen Tuesday morning after Columbus Day as KeyBank branches.
This signifies the completion of the $4.1 billion KeyCorp purchase of First Niagara, but customers may not see much of a change.
"First Niagara Clients will be able to use the same ATM cards, debit cards, credit cards and checks," explained KeyBank market president, Jim Barger. "Their account numbers will not change, their PIN numbers will not change. During the weekend, they can use and First Niagara or Key Bank ATM to take cash out, just like they normally would."
There will be additional staff at the branches and call center to help in that transition.
In other business news, Rochester-based JML Optical Industries is expanding its operations, allowing the company to hire more local employees. The optical solutions provider is commissioning a new Cylinder Cell fabrication unit due to an increased demand for its products.
In the past two years, JML has expanded by more than 15-percent. The company recently acquired Harold Johnson Optical Labs and relocated its operations to Rochester.
