WHITEVILLE- People are not the only ones feeling the affects left behind from Matthew. The Columbus County Animal Shelter's resources have been limited with the influx of displaced animals, but over the last week, donations have been pouring in.

Shelter officials say they have received food, kennels and toys from communities across the state, wanting to lend a helping hand.

"I can't tell you how pleased we are, we're just overjoyed. It helps us so much, it helps us take care of these animals and make sure they're healthy, it's just really beyond amazing," said Columbus County Animal Shelter Director, Joey Prince.

Anyone wishing to donate to the animals, or adopt from the shelter, may visit the shelter at: 288 Legion Drive in Whiteville.

Shelter hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
