WILMINGTON -- New Hanover Regional Medical Center is receiving a once in a lifetime award. The EMS National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians and EMS World Magazine selected the medical center as the top EMS system in the country.
Officals say it would not be possible without the hard work and dedication from more than 230 employees.
"The team puts in countless hours of training and education and staying current. We've got team members here that are always looking for that next research project that's going to bring that next edge to the patients side," said Director of AirLink, VitaLink and Regional Transfer Center, John Popella.
The Dick Ferneau EMS Service of the Year award, which recognizes the quality of care provided by the center's EMS and critical care transport teams, will be presented at the association's annual conference in October.
