JACKSONVILLE -- Nutrition professionals from nine school districts in eastern North Carolina took park in the K-12 Culinary Institute this week in Jacksonville.
Each day the chef ambassadors were taught how to improve school nutrition by learning new recipes, techniques, garnishing and how to merchandise food in the serving line for students.
Seasoned black beans, mega meatballs and sweet Thai chicken are among the 200 recipes to be served in North Carolina school program.
Nutrition officials said 384 chef ambassadors have graduated so far from the school meal programs throughout the state.
