ORIENTAL -- The Town of Oriental is celebrating now that a new grocery store has opened its doors.
For six months residents had to travel to either Grantsboro or New Bern to shop for food after the local Walmart Express closed earlier this year.
After accepting the bid on the Walmart Express, Grantsboro Piggly Wiggly store owner Billy Flockhart opened another store in the area.
The new Piggly Wiggly which is off of Highway 55 will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
