JACKSONVILLE, N.C.-- Highway Patrol Troopers have charged a driver in connection with a deadly accident in Onslow County Wednesday.
Authorities say the accident happened between Richlands and Jacksonville on NC Highway 24.
They say 85-year-old Leon Sylvester Jr. was driving when his SUV collided with a car driven by 73-year-old Mattie Andrews, who was stopped at a stop sign.
Andrews died at the scene.
Sylvester was taken to the hospital for his injuries, but is expected to be okay.
He is charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and reckless driving.
