An Alabama-based personal shopping service is expanding to Texas and is looking for drivers as it settles its spurs into the Lone Star State.

Shipt operates much like Instacart, a similar service that has operated in the state for several years. Customers do their grocery shopping via an app or website, and shoppers claim each order, make the trip to the store, and deliver the items within a specified time window.

During the process, you can keep in constant communication with your shopper, discuss replacements for out-of-stock items, and even ask for additional items to go in your order while shopping takes place.

In the year since Shipt first put pedal to the metal for grocery shopping, the service has expanded to eight states.

Now, Texas is the ninth. Shipt is looking for drivers in the Austin, San Antonio, Dallas and Houston metropolitan markets.

You must be 18 or older, have a valid driver's license and have a discerning eye when it comes to picking out fresh produce.

H-E-B has signed on to become Shipt's grocer of choice in San Antonio and Austin. Shipt is already rolling along in San Antonio, and the company officially launches in the capital city July 20.

A subscription to the service costs $99 a year or $14 a month. Customers can expect free delivery for orders over $35.
