Wilm­ington's Beer Scene Continues to Grow

WILMINGTON -- The Wilmington beer scene is about to get a little bigger, with three new breweries scheduled to open this summer. 

Over the past several years, a number of breweries have opened in the Port City. Bill's Front Porch Pub and Brewer, New Anthem Brewing and Wrightsville Beach Brewery will soon be on that list. 

Brewers said the new additions make the area more appealing. 

"Just like Asheville, you've got the mountains, here you have the beach, you know, there's endless possibilities of things to do... fishing, what have you. So you know it's just another added addition to what, the lovely beach life that we have here," said Jim Deaton, head brewer at Bill's Front Porch Pub and Brewery. 

Bill's Front Porch Pub and Brewery is opening next week.
