WILMINGTON -- This weekend, the Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site is commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Stamp Act Rebellion.

The event includes reenactment by interpreters, to make the past come to life.

Program coordinators say it is important for people to recognize this event as a big piece of our nation’s history.

"There’s a couple of reasons why we should care about what happened centuries ago. It made us who we are today, we would not be the type of civilization or culture without what occurre hundreds of years ago,” said event organizer Shannon Walker.

Organizers are expecting more than 2,000 visitors over the weekend. The event will continue Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
