CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. -- A man who jumped from Snow's Cut Bridge in Carolina Beach over the weekend has died.

According to the Wilmington Star News, 20-year-old Forrest Johnson died Sunday evening around 6 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Sheriff's deputies say Saturday morning Johnson drove a Jeep off the road at the sharp curve on River Road near the bridge and into a grove of trees.

When EMS workers arrived at the scene, they were unable to find him.

Then, they heard Johnson yell before jumping from the bridge.

Friends say they are reeling from the tragedy and it should be a lesson on how to treat others.

"Just....watch how you treat people. Treat people how you want to be treated. I know your parents said that growing up, but it really does effect someone's life. It just took my best friend and we're going to be putting one of my best friends in the ground this week," said friend James Banks.

No one else was injured in the incident.
