Acting Housing Commissioner Ahmed Tigani joined “Mornings On 1” Friday to discuss the city’s updates to its affordable housing application process.

The Department of Housing Preservation and Development announced the changes this week, aiming to reduce paperwork and speed up move-ins.

As part of the changes, applicants will be able to supply much less documentation regarding income, will no longer need notarized affidavits and will face fewer hurdles if they are disabled.

Meanwhile, rules are being temporarily relaxed for how re-rentals and resales are listed in order to get more people into housing units faster.
