KENTUCKY — On this week’s “In Focus Kentucky” program, we’re sitting down with Kentucky’s 86th Secretary of State, Republican Michael Adams of Paducah.
Adams has been in office serving the Commonwealth since 2020 and he is currently in the middle of his second four-year term.
During this segment, Secretary Adams discusses the launch of Kentucky Businesses Against Trafficking, a new initiative to raise awareness of human trafficking among the business community.
“Human trafficking is a form of modern slavery, and we must do all we can to put an end to it in Kentucky,” Adams said. “As Kentucky’s chief business official, I am happy to partner with our business community to raise awareness of how to spot and report trafficking.”
The Secretary of State’s Office also coordinates free trainings through partnerships with the Refuge for Women and People Against Trafficking Humans Coalition of Kentucky, for businesses to teach employees about human trafficking and how they can spot and report it.
The United States Department of State estimates there are 27.6 million victims of trafficking worldwide at any time. In Kentucky, The National Human Trafficking Reporting Hotline has identified 2,499 individual victims since 2007.
