WILMINGTON, N.C.-- Cars dating back to the 1980's and well before will line the streets of historic Downtown Wilmington as a premier car show takes over the Cape Fear region.  Rain may have postponed Rims on the River last month, but organizers say now they’re revving their engines in anticipation of a big weekend.

Rims on the River 2016 is taking place on June 10 thru June 12, 2016 in Downtown Wilmington, North Carolina.  Cars dating 1980 and older line the streets of the historic downtown area, with the Cape Fear River and the diverse collection of retail stores as their backdrop. This event has grown into a premier show, drawing a wide array of cars from the entire southeast region of the state, as well as a few neighboring states, totaling approximately 700 vehicles on display last year!

Advance admission charge for vehicles is only a low $10.00 and $15.00 the day of the show, which covers the expenses of producing the event.  It's taking place on both North and South Front Streer all the way from Orange Street, heading North to Red Cross Streer near Cape Fear Community College.

Friday June 10th - It all starts with "Welcome to Rims on the River" pre-event parties.  Local downtown venues will be hosting a variety of live bands and general entertainment welcoming everyone to a weekend of live music and cool cars.  For a total listing of entertainment, visit the official Rims website Entertainment Page.

Saturday June 11th - Car placement begins at 9:00am with the car show beginning at 11:00am and going til 5:00pm.  Last year they had about 700 vehicles, and this year they're expecting more.  In the event of rain, the show will postponed until the following day, Sunday, June 13th.  The car show wraps up with awards presentation at approximately 4:00pm, at Baily Theater Park at 18 N. Front Street, across from the Front Street Brewery.

Rims on the River Concert - Following the concert, the party continues on with post parties at all of the aforementioned venues, with more great live acts.  There will be a FREE concert at Ziggy's By The Sea.  Space is limited so arrive early.  Details are on the Entertainment Page of the website.

Sunday June 12th - Crews will meet in downtown at Cape Fear Community College's Schwartz Center parking lot for the annual cruise to wrap up the weekend's festivities.  They'll depart at noon.
