New York City is a multicultural hub with dozens of museums, hundreds of parks and millions of people. The number of potential things to see and do can feel overwhelming, but NY1 has you covered with some of the highlights taking place this weekend across the five boroughs.

Governors Ball

The iconic annual music festival returns to the city this weekend for its 14th edition.

Headliners this year include Tyler, The Creator, Olivia Rodrigo and Hozier. Tickets for one, two or three days are still available here.

Photoville

Photoville, the city's free annual photography festival, returns with exhibits throughout the five boroughs. More than 80 exhibitions feature more than 250 photographers from across the city and around the world.

The biggest exhibit is at Brooklyn Bridge Park, where 20 shipping containers are filled with new and vintage photographs.

Parade of Trains

The New York Transit Museum is offering residents the chance to ride in vintage subway trains this weekend.

New Yorkers can "time travel" by hopping on and off R1/9s, BMT Standards and BU Gate Cars — designs in use during the mid-20th century — at the Brighton Beach and Kings Highway B/Q stations in south Brooklyn.

SailGP

Fifty-foot sailboats will race at over 60 mph through New York City's waters for the “Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix” this weekend.

Twelve catamarans representing different countries will compete to win what fans call “Formula 1 on water.” The leaders of the U.S. team joined NY1 to discuss the competition.

'Van Gogh's Flowers' at NYBG

"Van Gogh's Flowers" at the New York Botanical Garden allows visitors to "revel in the beauty of the flowers that inspired his iconic paintings."

Featuring botanical displays and 3D sculptures from contemporary artists, the exhibit celebrates the legendary Dutch painter's connection to the natural world.

Luna Park

At the largest amusement park in the city, returning visitors may notice some new arcade games and renovated retail outlets.

Smorgasburg

Returning for its 15th year, Smorgasburg — an outdoor food bazaar with more than 70 vendors — is back for the season.

Offerings include tacos, cheesesteaks, barbecue, fish and chips, dumplings, coffee, snacks, desserts and more. For a full list of vendors, check here.

CityWorks

A new interactive exhibit at the New York Hall of Science helps visitors understand how cities work, focusing on the systems of the five boroughs.

CityWorks, the first large-scale exhibition at NYSCI since it reopened in October 2022, explains the everyday engineering behind things like water, sanitation and transportation that keep New York running.

Queens Night Market

The Queens Night Market has returned for the warmer months, with up to 100 independent vendors selling everything from food to art and other merchandise.

Organizers say the open-air market is the city's "first and most affordable" night market, with prices for all food at the event capped at $6. The variety of food available is said to reflect the diversity of Queens, known as "the world's borough."

INTER NYC

A series of 10 immersive exhibits brings visitors on a cosmic adventure through outer space.

Each space has a different activity, from stepping inside a black hole or bouncing through a swirling vortex to exploring a volcanic planet.

Frick Collection

The museum at the former home of industrialist and art patron Henry Clay Frick has reopened after being closed for a multi-year renovation project.

The collection of European paintings from the 14th to 19th centuries originally opened in 1935, but the second floor has always been closed to the public — until now.

The grand staircase is now open for visitors to check out an entirely new suite of galleries. Read more here.
