LOS ANGELES — As Pride Month comes to an end, the new documentary film “Every Body” is continuing the conversation about acceptance as it explores the lives of intersex people.
The film showcases the journey of three individuals whose childhoods were marked by shame, secrecy, and non-consensual surgeries to thriving adulthoods.
The three stars of the film are actor and screenwriter River Gallo (they/them), political consultant Alicia Roth Weigel (she/they) and Ph.D. student Sean Saifa Wall (he/him).
All three are now leaders in advocating for greater understanding of the intersex community and hope to end what they call unnecessary surgeries.
“Every Body” director Julie Cohen and Wall spoke to Spectrum News about the film.
Cohen spoke about what it took to get all three stars to participate in the film, and why it was important to tell their stories.
Wall told Spectrum News about his journey before and after the film and what it means to him to be part of the documentary.
