LOUISBURG, N.C. — The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is continuing its search for a missing 7-year-old boy who fell into the Tar River a week ago, according to the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation.
SBI human remains detection dogs have identified a potential area of interest, and search teams are actively investigating there, authorities said.
For the past four days, four different K-9 teams, handlers and a drone unit have been on-site in an effort to locate the child. The SBI is assisting the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin County Emergency Management, Wake Forest Fire Department, Rocky Mount Fire and Rescue and several other agencies.
Authorities continue to urge anyone with relevant information to come forward as the search continues.
