Woe betide all of us when our technology goes on the fritz.
How many times have we gone through all the stages of grief when our phone battery goes low, we have no bars, or... shudder... we can't get into Netflix?
That's exactly what happened Saturday for thousands of US Netflix subscribers who were unable to get into the streaming service, or were interrupted in the middle of their binge.
Netflix acknowledged the outage and assured its users that engineers were working to fix the issue:
Hi all - we are aware of streaming issues and we are working quickly to solve them. We will update you when they are resolved.

But that didn't stop a flurry of Twitter activity - many asking simply what the problem was, but many others taking the downtime with varying degrees of calm and patience:
who ever broke netflix deserves to have their fingernails slowly pulled off with pliers. #netflixdown

Some even predicted a post-apocalyptic consequence...

However, after a few more hours of edge-of-your-seat suspense... the issue was fixed. Netflix took the cue from its many GIF-laden complaints to announce the fix:

It is not clear what caused the outage; however many speculated the release of the highly-anticipated Netflix original "Luke Cage" played a role in the technical issue.
And all was right with the world - for now...
