NATIONAL -- If you're a Chipotle fan, you may want to listen up.

A recent rise in the price of avocados is affecting many chain restaurants, including Chipotle.

Shares of Chipotle sank 6 percent Tuesday. The stock had risen overall by 15 percent this year.

This sudden drop is due to the rising cost of avocados as well as increased spending in marketing to gain back customers after an E. coli nightmare a few years back.

The surge in avocado costs could lead Chipotle to raise prices for its guacamole, a favorite menu item among its customers.
