DURHAM -- Two of the most pledged New Year's resolutions are eating healthy and getting in shape. And there are plenty of gyms and classes to reach your goal.
But one group believes it's just as important to be active in the community as it is to be active in the gym.
Stephanie Drew is a Certified Personal Trainer and the owner of in North Durham. She's goes In Depth with our Caroline Blair on how a group of women are not only getting their minds and bodies in shape, but also their lives.
In the 6 months since they opened, members of Burn Boot Camp North Durham have participated in a Habitat for Humanity build, collected leftover Halloween candy to send to the troops, partnered with Durham Rescue Mission to deliver meals on Thanksgiving Day, donated and took part in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, lead the warm ups for Triangle Day School’s Twister Trot 5K and Durham Academy’s Turkey Trot 5K and are currently collecting non-perishable food items for the Central Park School for Children.
The BBC North Durham members have also adopted families through the Salvation Army for Christmas.
