Brandon Shope joined the Time Warner Cable News team in June, 2015 as a General Assignment Reporter.

He has lived in Southeastern, North Carolina for most of his life and is proud to call the Port City home. His passion for news and broadcasting began at an early age. This hobby soon turned into his dream and career goal.

After graduating from North Brunswick High School in 2011, he started his first broadcasting job. For four years, Brandon served in various roles at Cumulus Media’s 102.7 WGNI-FM, including working as the stations only weekend on-air radio personality. He genuinely enjoyed being able to interact with his listeners, providing them with the music, entertainment, information, weather/traffic updates and news reports they wanted to hear.

He graduated Cum Laude from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in May, 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies. During his time at UNCW, he participated in numerous philanthropy events, raising money for organizations like the Relay for Life/American Cancer Society, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Feeding America. He is a strong believer in community service and feels blessed to be able to help out at charity events whenever possible. Halfway through his senior year of college, he fine-tuned his broadcast abilities by learning more about the news industry. This was accomplished through an internship at Raycom Media’s local NBC & FOX affiliates, WECT/WSFX-TV.

Brandon is excited to be a part of the incredibly talented news team at Time Warner Cable and always looks forward to reporting on the stories that matter the most to you and your family. Delivering timely information about the things that impact viewers the most is where he truly excels. Because he is a Wilmington native, Brandon feels that he is able to cover the area in a unique way, focusing on the stories that his viewers really want to know about.

When he’s not working, Brandon enjoys getting outdoors and taking advantage of everything the Cape Fear Region has to offer! You can usually find him swimming at the beach, fishing at his favorite pond, exercising, or just relaxing by the pool.
