RALEIGH, N.C. — Art in Bloom is back for the 10th year at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh. The event, which started Wednesday and runs through Sunday, is the museum’s only annual fundraiser.

What You Need To Know

  • Art in Bloom at the North Carolina Museum of Art runs through Sunday

  • The five-day event is the museum’s only annual fundraiser

  • Local florists created live installations that can be found throughout the museum’s West Building

  • About 18,000 people are expected to visit the galleries during Art in Bloom

Dozens of local florists created live floral installations that can be found throughout the museum’s West Building. Many of the arrangements are inspired by works of art, and 11 of the large displays depict a specific decade, which ties into the 100th anniversary of the founding of the North Carolina State Art Society.

“The biggest difference is the larger platform. So we normally have five or six — this year, including the one outside, we have 11," Laura Finan, director of stewardship and special initiatives at NCMA, said. "As far as abundance goes, I think probably the largest number of flowers we’ve had in here since the first year. And we try very hard to make sure that most of our galleries are represented.”

“We do exhibitions, programming, all sorts of wonderful things in the museum park but this is the only time during the year that the West Building is closed unless you have a ticket," she said. "Every other day of the year, it’s free.”

Finan says about 18,000 visitors are expected during the five-day event. Tickets are sold out but floral demonstration event tickets are still available.
