RALEIGH, N.C. — In the race for North Carolina governor, Mark Robinson is projected to win the Republican nomination, according to The Associated Press.

It’s an open race for governor in North Carolina this year, with Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper term-limited after serving in the top job since 2017.

Mark Robinson, North Carolina’s lieutenant governor, was widely seen as the frontrunner for the GOP nomination. The other Republicans in the gubernatorial primary are State Treasurer Dale Folwell and businessman Bill Graham.

On the Democratic side, frontrunner Josh Stein, the state attorney general, is up against four contenders: former North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Mike Morgan, Chrelle Booker, Gary Foxx and Marcus Williams.

The General Election is set for Nov. 5, when North Carolina voters will cast ballots for president, governor, the council of state, Congress, the entire General Assembly and dozens of local seats.
