The Charlotte Master Chorale is set to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York.

They’ll be performing Mozart’s Requiem.

Artistic Director Kenney Potter is also the conductor who will be leading them through the performance.

"There are very few conductors that get this invitation, and groups for that matter, and there will be other groups that will be joining us,” he said.

The group of volunteers perform an annual season of masterworks and contemporary works throughout Charlotte, according to their website

They are also the resident chorus of the Charlotte Symphony, but they operate as an independent nonprofit.

In addition to performing Mozart’s Requiem at Carnegie Hall, they’ll also be performing it in Charlotte through a “pay-what-you-want” concert.

"So, we're trying to eliminate all boundaries and obstacles for people so that they can, they can truly experience the music that, that we absolutely love,” Potter said.

The concert in Charlotte is on Sunday, May 7 at East Mecklenburg High School, beginning at 3 p.m.
