APEX, N.C. — Adam Vick, 22, and Cora Lockamy, 20, will tie the knot in front of their friends and family Tuesday. The date they would get married was never a question. It's "tradition" for Adam Vick.
“If she said no to that, then it would have been a no-go," Adam Vick said with a laugh, talking about today's wedding date of January 24. It's not a random date. Adam's parents, grandparents and great-grandparents all got married on January 24 in years past.
Adam says there was never any pressure to get married on the same date as his relatives, but it was something he wanted to do. "And since I'm the only Vick son, I was like, I'll keep the tradition alive," Adam Vick explained.
Adam's parents, Billy and Debra Vick, weren't totally shocked when Adam went ahead with his wedding plans. “It surprised me because it is a Tuesday. Who gets married on a Tuesday?," Billy Vick said with a laugh. "Only this year did it surprise us, but we always knew he had said that, since he was a young boy," said Debra Vick.
Adam and Cora aren't sure if the tradition will end with them or not, but they aren't worried about that right now. They are just happy to be man and wife.
"I’m excited to live life with my best friend and being married for hopefully 60 years, just like my grandparents," Adam Vick said.
