CHARLOTTE, N.C. — About half of Americans set New Year's resolutions, but only around 8% are successful, according to a survey in the Journal of Clinical Psychology.

A manifest coach in Charlotte says it's because accomplishing these resolutions truly takes a mindset change.

What You Need To Know

  • According to a survey, only about 8% of people who set new year resolutions are successful at the end of the year.

  • A manifest coach says goal setting alone will not last without a change of heart

  • Amy Hawke of Manifest Coaching encourages people to have a change in mindset

Amy Hawke is the founder of Manifest Coaching.

"In 2012, I was working at least 60 hours a week, and I hit a wall," Hawke said.

Hawke says she started journaling and going to frame-of-mind coaching. It worked for her, and then she took the steps to start coaching others in 2017.

"You have to begin seeing yourself in a different way," Hawke said.

She said accomplishing your goals truly takes a mindset change to see yourself and make decisions as the person you want to be.

"Be it health, romance, weight, all these things align with the traditional goal setting at the beginning of the year, but what I'm saying is goal setting will not last unless you have a change of heart, a change in way you are thinking about your own personal health, your own success, your own happiness," Hawke said.
