CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two strangers from the Charlotte area met online while searching for love but ended up starting a podcast together instead.

What You Need To Know

Two strangers, who met through online dating, created a podcast about relationships

Jorge Medina Hernandez and Nelsa Webber cohost a podcast called "The Relationship Cycle with Jorge and Nelsa"

The podcast covers a variety of topics, including dating with a health issue, love boredom and moving on after a breakup

Jorge Medina Hernandez and Nelsa Webber are behind the podcast "The Relationship Cycle with Jorge and Nelsa." It provides listeners with shows about relationships, ranging from dating to divorce.

Medina Hernandez and Webber met through Facebook dating last year.

"He had a wonderful voice. That’s one of the things I noticed about him when we first started chatting offline,” Webber said.

They went on a date in October and quickly realized they would remain friends.

“We still had fun,” Medina Hernandez said.

Webber, who was already a podcaster, asked Medina Hernandez to co-host a dating podcast with her.

“I felt there was not something that spoke to people dating and how do you get back into the game again?” Webber said.

During their shows, they cover a wide range of topics, including dating with a health issue, dating independent women, love boredom and moving on after a breakup.

“Jorge and I are both divorced, so we have talked about maybe what we could do differently, what we've learned,” Webber said.

Their talking points come from research and firsthand experience. They also bring in therapists, life coaches and other experts for some episodes.

“The main reason we started the podcast was to educate and help people because I’ll tell you, dating is hard,” Medina Hernandez said.

Both said they said would have been helpful when they started dating again, especially because it was online.

“I had no idea what I was doing and if I would’ve had a guide or something, it would’ve probably saved a lot of time and money,” Medina Hernandez said.

This project is also one of their favorite pastimes.

"I love being a creative. I love doing something that stretches me and challenges me,” Webber said.

Medina Hernandez said their partnership has allowed him to explore podcasting, which he’d been interested in for a while.

“I don’t know how far we can get with this, but it’s something we are passionate about,” Medina Hernandez said.

Currently, they are not generating revenue with the free podcast. They’ve released 19 episodes thus far and reached listeners in the U.S. and abroad.

The podcast is available here and on Spotify.
