DURHAM, N.C. - The Cameron Crazies are at it again.
This time, camping out right beside Cameron Indoor Stadium for perhaps the most anticipated college sports event in recent memory.
Coach K's final game at Cameron Indoor Stadium is scheduled for March 5 against bitter rival UNC Chapel Hill
Nearly 1,000 Duke students are tenting outside Cameron Indoor Stadium to see Coach K's final game
If students miss two tent checks, they can no longer go to the game
In March, Duke Men's Basketball Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski, will coach his final home game.
“Grace till 11 a.m., go get tested if you need to," Cameron Jarnot said on the megaphone.
Jarnot can use the bullhorn whenever she wants.
“Anytime, yup, we make at least one every night," Jarnot said.
Jarnot, a senior at Duke, is in her third year as a line monitor at Krzyzewskiville.
She's part of a team of line monitors making sure K-ville runs smoothly.
“This kinda became my primary social group on campus and the place I loved to be, the thing I loved to do," Jarnot said.
She and the nearly 1000 other Duke students occupying the small outdoor space by Cameron Indoor Stadium will camp Krzyzewskiville for the next five weeks.
“This the only way, unless you have tickets," Jarnot said.
Good luck with that.
On websites like Ticketmaster and StubHub, even the cheapest tickets will cost you several thousand dollars.
Line monitors like Jarnot can signal a tent check-in on their megaphone, any time of day or night.
These are the rules.
At night, and for the first three weeks of tenting, there must be at least six students present in each tent group with no more than two in each individual tent due to COVID.
For the final two weeks of tenting, there have to be two students in each tent group at night and one during the day.
Two strikes and you’re out.
"Its a little messy, sorry about that," Daniel Boljas said.
Boljas, a junior, is in his first year tenting.
“The nights get really cold, but the tarps trap in all the heat," Bolja said.
Bolja has attended every Duke game so far this year.
He says there was no way, even in this frigid cold, that he was going to miss Coach K’s final game at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
“He is a legend in college basketball, and college basketball especially is one of my favorite sports, so you gotta give Coach K the ultimate respect," Bolja said.
Every student tenting in K-ville will be admitted inside Cameron Indoor Stadium for Coach K's final game in March as long as they pass their tent checks.
They will also be required to take a final test on Duke basketball history to determine the order they can get into the stadium.
