  • The pair has installed more than 120 yard cards since they started their business in January 2021

Anitra White and her daughter, Marquita Williams, are full-time nurses and event planners.

In 2020, Williams purchased a yard card for her daughter’s birthday, and that’s when she got the idea to take on a franchise with Hooray! Yard Cards.

“I was able to have this done for my children too. The joy that it brought to their faces, the joy that it brings to others, I just enjoy it,” Williams said.

White and Williams started their franchise in January 2021, and said they launched it to spread joy during a troubling and stressful time.

Both women work all day as nurses and then change into different uniforms to install yard cards.

“If we have a yard card at 2:30, we’re meeting at the location, and then from there I go to work. I have to be to work at 4:30 a.m.,” said Williams.

Since January, they’ve installed more than 120 yard cards from Gastonia to Concord and even into South Carolina.

“We’re nurses in the day and ninjas at night,” jokes White.

Even with the long days and often no sleep, White and Williams said it’s worth it when they receive the “thank you” texts from clients.

“I get excited because I know when they come out, they’re going to be just as excited as I am to do it for them to see it. So it’s awesome,” Williams said.

White and Williams said they are constantly expanding their business into new parts of Charlotte and the surrounding areas. For more details or to book a yard card click here.
