A Triad family is trying to bring diversity and inclusion to the holidays through their small business

Wrapper’s Delight offers holiday gift wrap, pajamas, greeting cards and more

They ultimately hope to expand the business to include other holidays and birthdays

Brooke Carrington came up with the idea for Wrapper’s Delight in a dream last summer.

“I sat straight up in my bed with this idea of Black Santa wrapping paper,” Carrington said. “The next morning I told my husband, 'I think I just started a business last night.'”

Her husband, Xavier Carrington, used his graphic design talents to bring her idea to life. They launched in time for the 2020 holiday season and ordered 1,000 rolls of wrapping paper to start the business. The response was overwhelming, and customers started asking for more wrapping paper designs, Christmas pajamas, greeting cards and more.

“People tell us all the time, 'thank you so much for doing this, we need this,'” Brooke Carrington said.

The Carringtons are proud to share their entrepreneurial spirit with their children and show them that their ideas can become real. Carrington said she wants her children to grow up in a world where representation isn’t surprising.

“It should be like ‘I’m going to the store to buy some wrapping paper, I’ll be back.' When they get there, and they see it’s a Black Santa, they [should] just naturally pick it up and go on about their business just like a white person would do,” Carrington said.

They plan to expand the business to include other holidays and birthdays. A list of current products is available here.
