JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Gears have been shifted at the Goodyear All American Speedway as stock car racing is coming back to Jacksonville July 31 under new ownership and a revitalized racing scene.

Owner Anthony Goodyear has been racing his entire life. He wants to see passionate racing back in the community, and he's going full speed ahead to help people get behind the wheel. He's working tirelessly to get everything back on track.

Multiple events are scheduled throughout the rest of the year

“Cater to the racers where we're offering an American racers scuff program, so the racers can afford to come and buy tires. A lot of them guys work nine to fives, and it's hard for them to get to racing on the local level, so we want to do everything we can to make it affordable for racers,” Goodyear said.

The track has been open for roughly 20 years, but events slowed down because of COVID-19. He has support from other track owners who want to see the raceway steered back in the right direction.

“There's been some really big races and series come through. Hooters Cup and UAR racers came through here,” Goodyear said.

He's confident this raceway opening will bring avid race fans to the area. His plans reach further than just racing, he's working to bring different types of entertainment to the track in the future.

“Got a lot of good ideas coming up with concerts and some crazy racing, some demolition derby and some fun stuff like that,” Goodyear said.

The team at Goodyear All American Speedway already has events scheduled past its opening race, including Mini Stock Nationals in August and an all-star race in November, featuring the Lucas Oil Touring 12 program.
