BUFFALO, N.Y. — For the second year in a row, Buffalo’s annual Grease Pole festival is canceled.

It’s normally held in July at the Agustin "Pucho" Olivencia Community Center on Swan Street, but it will not take place this year.

As an alternative to the festival, the community center is hosting a family-oriented summer series to provide entertainment for people in a COVID-safe environment.

The board of directors says it hopes the Grease Pole Festival can resume once large group gatherings are allowed again.
