CARY, N.C. – November is National Diabetes Awareness Month.
Nearly 1.6 million Americans are living with Type 1 diabetes, many of which are children.
Alivia Lally, 6, of Cary, N.C. was diagnosed with the disease in 2019 and is now fighting for a cure. Last year, she raised $5,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund, also known as JDRF.
While in-person walks and fundraisers had to be canceled this year due to COVID-19, Lally has taken it upon herself to go door to door to ask for donations.
“I am trying to raise as much money as I can,” says Lally.
Even though she is small, she is mighty. Lally has overcome the challenges posed by the disease and hopes that in her lifetime, we will find a cure.
