CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Libraries across North Carolina had to shut down their physical locations during COVID-19.
Many had to learn how to set up socially distanced pickups and figure out ways to get story time online. Now, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library System is using those lessons to begin a phase 2 opening.
Branches are open for browsing at limited capacity. A limited number of computers can also be used for 20 minutes with a reservation.
Masks are still required in the buildings, but don’t worry if you’re not ready to venture in just yet.
“We’ll still have book bundles and holds and all those funs things, but we’re expanding access throughout the whole building now,” director Caitlin Moen said.
Wake County public libraries are offering digital services and book pick up seven days a week. Greensboro public libraries have a 30-minute browsing period inside the building and curbside book pickup.
