CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Most students in North Carolina are still learning remotely and, for many, having access to Internet is one of the biggest challenges.
In Charlotte, there's a group of teachers working to change that using t-shirts.
The teachers are making and selling shirts to help raise money to purchase hot sports for students.
Math teacher Amanda Thompson says this need has always been there and they knew they needed to do something to help.
"It's always been an issue because, as an educator, we send homework home sometimes and our kids can't get access at home. So, at school we have kids come early in the morning. We may have kids come during lunch or we may have kids come after school, so it's always been an issue," she says.
Thompson says the district currently needs 18,000 hot spots for students.
