CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In a new Spectrum News segment, Voices for Change, we hear from North Carolinians about their lives, struggles, and hope for the future.

Joining us in this segment is Kristen McLean, a social studies teacher at the Governors' Village STEM Academy in Charlotte.

McLean, a third generation teacher, says she's seen interent inequality in education and is working to counteract that. She talks with us about the struggles of working in underfunded schools, why they're underfunded, and what she finds so rewarding about the work.
