GREENSBORO, N.C. – As businesses and schools reopen their doors, some are looking at innovative ways to keep their facilities clean.

Triad-based sanitation company Signal Hygiene is among the services offering solutions with its long-lasting treatment.

The company uses a sanitation process that promises to sanitize continuously for 90 days.

It works by forming a barrier on top of surfaces, which is what makes it different from standard disinfectants.

"Typical cleaners only work for as long as the cleaner is wet on the surface. As soon as that cleaner is dry, then it's no longer effective, it's no longer active," Signal Hygiene Director of Operations Brady Lancaster says. "What we have is the ability to provide a biostatic barrier on surfaces that continuously keeps the surface sanitized for three to four months."

Until now, Signal Hygiene has primarily worked with health care facilities on their infection prevention programs.

Now, the company is setting up contracts with school systems across the state, planning to sanitize as many as possible before kids head back to class.
