CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Hope Vibes is a non profit that brings homeless neighbors resources they need like soap and blankets, but $55,000 in grants means they can also bring a mobile shower unit and solar powered sinks by the end of the summer.

A $50,000 grant for The Foundation for the Carolinas and the United Way will finish out a mobile shower and laundry unit called the Hope Tank. The Hope Tank has two private bathrooms on board, so it is already set up for social distancing.

A $5,000 grant from Wells Fargo is also helping Hope Vibes build six solar powered mobile sinks to add to the two they already have in tent camps in Charlotte.

The solar powered sinks have a water tank, touch free faucets, and touch free soap dispensers, so homeless neighbors can wash their hands, something that has been very difficult since many restaurants or businesses they may have had access to had to shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The little things we take for granted is huge for people who don't have access to those basic necessities," Adrienne Threatt, the executive director for Hope Vibes, said.

Solar powered sinks are already being built and Hope Vibes has a goal of rolling out the Hope Tank by the end of June.
