CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Cody Hughes and Chase Price are masters of capturing Charlotte at its finest. Whether it be city government, rental properties, or sports, the founders of RedefineU Media know how to carefully curate a shot to captivate an audience.
But what if that creativity, that passion, and those honed skills don’t apply in a pandemic?
“I never thought how if small businesses and other businesses were having a hard time struggling with money that it would also affect us,” Hughes said.
Hughes and Price said their revenue stream went down 75 percent when the stay-at-home order started.
“We knew fairly quickly that we needed to create some sort of product to get a little more revenue coming in,” said Price.
Then, an idea came.
“There was literally one picture that looked like a puzzle,” Hughes said. “It was a picture of the city from directly overhead.”
The two men decided to start printing their skyline photographs onto puzzles to sell.
“It seemed like it was encouraging people to stay inside and do something fun with the family,” Hughes said. “And it can still relate back to Charlotte.”
They posted the puzzles on their website Monday, and say they have already sold more than 150. It has taught them that a little innovation and imagination can go a long way.
“It’s about being creative and using your resources to figure out how you can turn this pandemic into a way to get more creative and provide value for people in a different way,” Price said.
The puzzles are $60 each and sold online. Check them out here.
