RALEIGH, N.C. -- Bon Fritay, the Triangle's first Haitian food truck launched earlier this year, but its owners never imagined doing business during a pandemic.

"At the end of the day, people have to eat. So, we are going to be out here ready to serve as long as we can," Dafney Tales- Lafortune said.

While they are whipping up delicious dishes, their hearts are with the medical community.

"You see all over social media, pictures and videos of people working in hospitals who are working to the bone and they are under a lot of stress," Tales-Lafortune said. "My husband and I, he works at a hospital, so he kinda understands the situation, but.. there has to be a way that we can help."

So, helping is what they plan to do. A new campaign called Adopt A Doc let's customers sponsor meals for hospital and clinic staff.

"You're not going to be able to just knock on their door and say, 'Hey! I have a plate of food I want to give someone!,'" she explained. " As a reputable business, you can go through us so we can do it on your behalf."

The donations, paired with their food preparation and delivery, are a labor of love. They hope other businesses will model in the future.

"If other food truckers and restaurants decide to take on this idea, all the better because it can just keep growing," Tales- Lafortune said.
