WAXHAW, N.C. — A dog rescue group called South Charlotte Dog Rescue is encouraging those temporarily working from home to consider fostering.

South Charlotte Dog Rescue Director of Operations Amy Merrill is currently fostering 18 dogs at her home.

“When they have a need, it makes it a better life for them instead of living in a shelter or living outside, I say sure I’ll take them,” Merrill said.

The goal is to find the dogs currently staying at her home a foster family.

Merrill said with people working from home because of coronavirus concerns, it may a good time to give fostering a try.

“It would maybe have somebody step up to foster who couldn’t foster, and now that they’re being told to work from home, now they are going to foster, maybe they wouldn’t have that chance if this was not happening,” Merrill said.

If you are unable to do it now, the nonprofit organization encourages you to do it any other time of the year.

“We are always looking for more fosters. If we can bring in more fosters it’s more dogs that we can help,” Merrill said.
