DURHAM, N.C. – Today, more tenants are finally returning to McDougald Terrace after more than six weeks in a hotel.

Hundreds of families were displaced from McDougald Terrace after being forced out by carbon monoxide.

Monday, crews could be spotted, making repairs to the complex. This includes replacing appliances that once put out poisonous gas, adding new furnaces, water heaters, and electric stoves.

Durham Housing Leaders say it could be March before all families are able to return to their homes.

One man said this has taken a toll on him and his two children.

“Depressed, stressed, and it’s like a no-win. Moving from one location to the next, downsizing everywhere we go…,” said the unidentified tenant.

Some families tell Spectrum News that they will not return to their homes until March.
