SHELBY, N.C. — It’s been 20 years since 9-year-old Asha Degree went missing from her Shelby home, but her mom says she hasn't lost hope.

The FBI has released a new age progression picture. The picture was created using images of her family. She would be 29 years old Friday. They have replaced the picture on the billboards in the area.

Detectives with the Shelby Police Department, Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department, and the FBI say thousands of tips have come in the 20 years since she's been missing.

They’ve received 45 tips just in the last year. Detectives have come out of retirement to work the case. In 2016 released images of a car who may have picked up Asha were released.

"It has something special to me because she went missing under my watch so to speak, I was responsible for the deputies that were patrolling the county," Sheriff Alan Norman said.
