GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Flood waters are still pretty high in Cramerton, and even a fire department is dealing with the issue.
The fire department staff has spent the day pushing out water that got into the department. The police chief says the water crested at about 16 feet. The last time it was close to that was 2013 when the South Fork crested at 17 feet.
It’s not possible to get to Goat Island Park Greenway because the pedestrian bridges are underwater. Additionally, the pastor of Presbyterian Church says they were lucky this time.
“Praising God that it hasn’t gotten to the bottom of our church like it did a few years ago say it’s crested we hope that’s the truth if so our sanctuary is going to be saved the lodge we have in the back of our property and probably about 6 feet of water at this time this is the worst one we’ve had and I don’t know the last one was probably 8 years ago,” pastor Ken Bogle said.
So far, there is no damage to homes as well as no injuries. The chief says people are used to this, but advises everyone to please stay away from the water.
