CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Those who live in Gaston County may have seen this group around once or twice. What you might not realize is they are a Coalition of Christian Bikers.
"We had this vision where we wanted to bring the biker community together," Event Coordinator Tracey Norris said. "There are a lot of motorcycle ministries out there, but everybody was doing their own thing, so they were like, 'why not unite?'"
The group started out with just a few ministries about a year ago. Today their events bring out more than a hundred people.
Pastor James herring is from Thunderhouse Biker Church in Kings Mountain. He worked with Norris to put together the coalition.
"That is why we are here; not to judge anybody, but to love everybody," Herring said.
Pastor Herring said this is also a place bikers can go if they’re struggling to find their way. Forty years ago, he was an alcoholic and he knows how tough if can be.
"We can identify with those who are out there, maybe hooked on drugs, maybe doing things in the world that maybe we did at one time," Herring said.
Bishop Brady Jackson with Royal Praise Ministry doesn’t even ride a motorcycle, but he is in full support of the coalition.
"We are 100% behind it," Jackson said. "We love our bike riders. We support them in everything they do."
The group attends all sorts of events, including funerals.
"We do anything the biker needs," Johnny Norris Jr. said. "If the biker is not even in the ministry, if they are in another club, we try to go visit them and show them love."
"If you need us to come pray for you, if you need us to attend an event or anything that you have, well we just want to be able to share the love of Jesus with anybody and everybody out here," Tracey Norris said.
