ALBEMARLE, N.C. – The Albemarle community came out Saturday to support an officer in need.

  • Officer Mike Martin has brain cancer.
  • Captain D.A. Hunt sat at the top of the police station to raise money for his recovery.
  • So far, over $4,000 has been raised!

Officer Mike Martin is battling brain cancer and his fellow officers are helping him out.

Captain D.A. Hunt sat perched at the top of police station this weekend to raise money to help Martin out.

Their original goal was to raise $1,000 for Officer Martin, which they hit in just 20 minutes!

“I know there’s been a lot of negative publicity with law enforcement in the past, but it seems like anytime something happens across the nation, this community always reaches out and does things for us, so it’s just a good community,” said Hunt.

And Hunt’s efforts certainly paid off! The community came out and raised over $4,000 for Officer Martin.
