BOONE, N.C. – “Dancing Santa” has become a popular tradition at Hardin Park Elementary School.

Santa, played by Boone police officer Glen Kornhauser, spent Friday saying goodbye to students as they left for their winter break. He does it every last day of school before the break.
Kornhauser enjoys interacting with the children, but this could be his final year because he is retiring.
"I don’t want to be remembered for what I am but for the impact I had on others,” Kornhauser said.
Kornhauser plans to remain on reserve duty for a few months. He wants to attend lunches with students as he believes it is important to show students that officers aren’t bad guys.
“I would like to be always remembered as being the friendly officer that is approachable," he said.
