QUEENS, N.Y. - Usually New Yorkers come to Citi Field for baseball but on Saturday the field will play host to the New York Hurling Classic.

Hurling is an ancient Irish sport dating back 3,000 years.

It's a fast paced, physical game that's a cross between field hockey and lacrosse. It's played with hardly any protective gear.

On Saturday the top four teams from this year's All-Ireland Championships will play a modified version of hurling.

"In our main game which is the size of three football fields put together - just to give you a context of how big our pitch is. Obviously we don't have stadiums that size in the U.S. so we've modified it slightly," said Richie Hogan, a Kilkenny hurler.

The object of the game is for players to take the ball called a Sliotar - similiar to a baseball - and get it into the goal.

The balls can be hit at over 90 miles per hour.
