RALEIGH, N.C. -- A victory by the Washington Nationals seemed extra sweet for NC State fans. 

• Nationals shortstop Trea Turner played for the Pack until he was drafted in 2014

• Turner made national news after Taco Bell gave away free tacos in his honor

Nationals shortstop Trea Turner played for the Pack until he was drafted in 2014. 

NC State baseball coach Elliott Avent says Turner always had a great work ethic and is grateful for his continued support of the Wolfpack. 

"We get a lot of players in and they  grow to love it in different ways , but to see a great passion and to support his school  in a moment like that has been kinda cool."

Turner made national news after Taco Bell gave away free tacos in his honor as he was the first player to steal a base during the World Series.
